Leg Humping

Photos from Brooklyn Flea on Sunday:

Vote Toes

8th Grader Elenore Simotas worked with her mother and babysitter to screenprint these bags, the proceeds of which will go towards Obama's campaign.

Whoopie pie

A whoopie pie from Wanna Hava Cookie - vanilla buttercream!

Emo stamps

These wonderful rubber stamps were so sad. I wanted one but having bought my fill of treasures, will have to console myself with the hopes that they'll be back next week.

Josh Goldstein/Bodega NYC

These mixed media collages are inspired by NYC Bodegas and mounted on salvaged wood. From Josh Goldstein at Bodega NYC. They remind me of Coney Island.

Vintage tees

The purple shirt caught my eye because I have a friend named Jenny that we call J-Dub. Hi Jenny!

Combien d'Argent?

These are my treasures that I walked away with. The striped scarf is from Cambodia, which I bought from Lotus Jayne. The ricotta cheese is by Salvatore Bklyn, and they are at the flea every weekend but this is the first time I've tried/bought their cheese. And now I will buy some every week. It is rich and creamy and all weekend we ate them on crackers, drizzled with red pepper olive oil (leftover from my roasted baby peppers stuffed with capers, anchovies and arugula) and sprinkled with lemon pepper. YUM. The print is screenprinted by Taliah Lempert at Bicycle Paintings. She's so nice and sweet and we got to talking because we both have used the Print Gocco and while it is a great little machine...ultimately it's a pain in the ass to use. This will go on the wall with the other prints I bought. I'm so excited to finally have art in the apartment!

This is what I love about our Flea - there is such a range of stuff for everyone. Vintage finds, food, furniture, crafts, jewelry. There was one booth that was selling $5 compilations of old funk that I was interested in but I refrained from purchasing as Alex was getting all Dad face on me. Hopefully they will be back next week. One thing I learned, if you see something you want, snag it! There are a lot of regulars but also some one-offs. So get it while you can.
