There's never enough time

The Smiths

Freaking Skeeba

Arts & crafts

  • Went to MoMA to check out Tim Burton but it was sold out sold out sold out on free Friday.
  • Watched Ninja Assassin, yet another Japanese flick with no main Japanese actors. Despite this and the cheeze factor, it was entertaining especially with the noisy audience.
  • Painted (see above).
  • Knit & Wine night was interesting as our normal haunt was broken into and our second choice was being renovated. A much smaller group of us ended up at The Vanderbilt, where we had some interesting cocktails and met Casey from Maine, who invited us to a Fiber Arts Retreat next summer.

Bye bye Flea!

Little artist, originally uploaded by lazysundae.

Goodbye, Brooklyn Flea! Catch you again next year.

There's the Gifted holiday market in Manhattan this year (WTF!!) and also the indoor Flea in DUMBO but it's just not the same. I can't wait to see you again.

What did you do this weekend?

I watched a bunch of movies.

On Saturday we stayed in and watched Stepbrothers, with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Needless to say, it was super ridiculous and over the top. A few moments where I laughed out loud but ultimately a big fat waste of time. Which is why we watched it in the first place.

On Sunday we watched District 9, which I liked a lot. A lot of underlying issues with apartheid and segregation. Very funny and thoughtful.

Last night and this morning I watched Charlyne Yi's Paper Heart, which is a documentary about her traveling all over the US interviewing people about what love is. She has a pretty cynical outlook on it. In the midst of all this is a fictional storyline in which she meets boy-meets-dork Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Juno, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist) and a budding relationship develops. The interviews are what make the movie, illustrated by animated sequences created and filmed by Yi.

I also tried to watch Jarmusch's The Limits of Control but will have to re-visit it another time, perhaps when I can view it without distractions. As all of his films should be watched.

A lazy Sunday

High Line

Colored glass windows

Shadow monsters at the High Line

Fire escape at the Muffin House

Today we spent a wonderful, warm fall day at Chelsea Market, the High Line and walking down through Chelsea and the West Village. Our last stop was Sunrise Mart on Broome St where we stocked up on cha soba, ponzu sauce, ramen and tofu.

Need more time!

Here are some new knit pieces that I've been working on for an art fair at work. They're pretty easy to make but very time consuming!!!
