Better late than never

Alex and I were walking home one day. I think it was a couple of Sundays ago on our way back from Williamsburg. A drunk couple on the street was stumbling towards us on our street and the guy yells out "HEY!! What is the song that plays during the closing credits of The Breakfast Club??" I stopped to let it play in my head for a bit. "COME ON YOU KNOW IT!!!" I shouted the answer back to them and they took off running and singing it.

RIP, John Hughes.

Tsunami

ocean force, originally uploaded by H o g n e.

I'm a man on the beach with my wife. It's overcast and not very crowded. The waves are getting bigger and bigger. I lay by the shore to absorb them. They start crashing over my head and people are becoming alarmed. I turn around and the next wave is towering over me. I run over to my wife and tell her we have to leave right away. We have carry-on luggage with us. We start packing up as fast as we can. Her father is missing. I don't want to wait for him. I finish packing and try to roll the luggage out of the vicinity but the wheels are stuck. We start to panic. My wife is screaming.

I can't save her because I'm awoken by the sound of popping knuckles.

Oh well.

Vintage Red Hook trolleys

My newest plant, a purple oxalis

Today Alex and I headed to Red Hook to walk around and go to Fairway. Our lofty plans of checking out the stores on Van Brunt, a trip to Ikea AND Fairway were marred by the fact that the stores were closed and we didn't have a car.

It ended up being fine as there was an art fair going on by the water, showcasing different local artists. We had a snack at Baked and then dinner at Hope & Anchor.

Despite the gray day, it was a wonderful date. We saw friends picnicking in community gardens, a girl get her stolen bike back and a guy shove his kayak into his apartment via the ground floor window. We walked by the old trolleys and tried to peer inside, then I bought a new houseplant (big purple clovers!) at Chelsea Garden Center. Awesome!
