Gulls at the end of the day

On Sunday a gang of us went out to Robert Moses beach for the day. It was supposed to storm all day but miraculously, the weather held up and was sunny for pretty much the whole time we were there. The water was cold but it felt good on my legs and we picnicked on salami, soppresata, foccacia and malt whiskey white cheddar cheese from Green Grape Provisions (Ft. Greene). I also made sangria right there on the beach.
Here is the recipe:
Cut up 2 gala apples and 2 oranges. Dump them into your thermos - ours was about 1.5L. Then add about a cup of cranberry juice and a few good splooshes of sherry. Fill it the rest of the way with some cheap red wine. When the level gets low, add more liquids. Serve over ice. Then consume fruit or toss it to the seagulls and watch them get drunk.

I hadn't been to the beach in about 8 years. It felt fantastic - I can't wait to go again.
