Shit I do want to be spending money on

This badorable merino-cotton hoodie w/ cashmere-lined hood. Lux and ridiculously ppriced at $675. By Future Craft of Boston.

Robert Rauschenberg: Transfer Drawings of the 1960s. Great stuff - one of my heroes.

When Net-a-Porter used to be Girlshop, I first spied this delicious little (or medium, or large - it comes in different sizes now) bag and fell in love. Sadly, the mini tote starts at close to $400 so this will require some diligent saving. Please don't mind the horrible cuff job on those jeans. Bitch needs to have her legs amputated.

A dainty DvF dress - because it's spring and spring means fresh and flowers and...dainty. I've been watching Stacy & Clinton - wrap dresses flatter everyone.

New iMac. I've had my current one for about 5 years and it's still great but running too slow now. Sorry, baby.

Delicate, pretty jewelry from Bonbon Oiseau Design. Hopefully she'll be at Brooklyn Flea this Sunday. I've been lusting after her jewelry for just about ever it feels like.

My ass is a ring of fire

And it burns burns burns...

Leftover Chinese food will do that to you I guess. But this is the first time I've had this problem. So I am not deterred - yet. I'm just trying to keep hydrated.

I'm on a workout regiment. Every other day I will run, and every other day I'll do yoga or some sort of stretching/indoor exercise. So far it is off to a rocky start as today I couldn't concentrate on my yoga video. It's slow and boring. However I also have MTV Power Yoga, which starts off with about 5 reps of speed sun salutations. I'm doing emergency semaphore - not a great way to wake up.

I figure if I'm going to start eating like a pig again (thank you, Austin!) I need to do some sort of body management. This means I need: better running shoes, sports bras, a new bike. Shit I don't really want to be spending money on!

Worst name EVER

Wishing it wasn't a dream

I dreamt that my bosses at work somehow were going to promote me or send me to training and were actually asking what I wanted to do and what I was good at. I told them I wanted to learn languages. And they were encouraging and were going to let me learn German and Japanese, as well as take brush-up courses for my French. I was going to get to travel, I think.

And then I woke up and realized that it would never happen. Boourns.

I also dreamt that I developed my own colored photos. I took a roll of film to the guy down the street that I usually go to and they came out really shitty. I was pretty pissed especially since I paid extra for a picture CD. In my dream, I developed the negatives at home and they turned out great. I think it means I finally need my own darkroom in the apartment. I have a bathtub - I can do it.

What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Caught Priceless (Hors de Prix) today. Great, funny flick in the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" vein. It just came out so I won't list any spoilers but it was definitely entertaining (and frustrating). Audrey Tautou shines in a not-so-innocent role...and the clothes - oh the clothes. I want....I would love....

WTF

I had a dream last night that I was back at the armory except everything was white - everything that was part of the armory was white and plaster. All the stuffed moose and deer heads were white plaster and they had no antlers or ears. They looked more like white plaster human heads that were mounted onto the wall. The exhibits were still there though, untouched and in color. And again I was on some sort of mission involving espionage and double agents and I was trying to crawl into a hole in the wall. Or maybe I was trying to pass through it, the way cells use water like osmosis.

Of all the useless, awesome, need-it-now gifts...

Engraved moleskins. This one is by Drew Anderson but on the website, you can submit your own photo and make your own custom design. This is seriously one of the best ideas for paper product enthusiasts like myself.

Someone up there loves me

Now I do not know who this slutty bitch is but I distinctly remember yoinking that logo from the Rocks Off website last year and proclaiming they needed to put it on a t-shirt.

Thank you, thank you, god of cutely offensive t-shirts!

I want this!

This is the Flip Video Camcorder from Pure Digital. Every time I shop on Amazon they're advertising this thing and I've always thought it was too toy-like to be any good. Still though, I have been wanting a dv camera of some sort to play with.

The price can't be beat at $150 for 30 mins and $180 for 60 mins. And by this review in the NY Times, it seems like it's worth it. Point and shoot, which is great. All you do is turn it on, push to record, and push to stop. You can preview it right there, and then when you want to upload it there is a USB plug right on the device to attach it directly to your computer. Et voila - YouTube fame instantly.

It's small, it's cute, it's easy to use. Pretty much what I look for in most gadgets. Ha!

Actual sentences and thoughts

Now that I've been back in New York for a few days I've had time to think about our trip/time away.

The number one thing is, I STILL HATE WORK. I hate being at a desk all day, I hate the corporate/office atmosphere. I hate that everything's a process, I hate business casual. As far as corporate goes, my office is very lax. Which I am very thankful for. But at the end of the day I am still a gopher at a desk.

The other big thing: NEW YORK IS STILL TOO FUCKING CROWDED! I love love love this city. I love the diversity, all the restaurants, the art, the museums, all the fun things to see and do. But the people - I have never encountered so many self-centered, rude, obnoxious, (did I say rude) people in one place before. Simple things like "please" and "thank you" don't seem to be in their repertoire. Loud headphones, pushing and shoving up and down stairs and in subways, not giving up seats for the elderly/disabled/etc, spitting, littering, farting and burping - these are all fairly common. And I HATE it.

People move to New York to find themselves or whatever but in the end they all wind up douchebags. "I heard it/ate there/saw it/went there first." I try not to get caught up in it but it's hard.

Austin is by no means anywhere I would want to live - ever or in the near future - but being in a place where people take the time to look you in the eye and smile as they serve you was kind of refreshing. And it made me realize what an asshole I'm becoming.

Please!

Super utter total awesomeness

Brighten up your day and watch this cute mini movie from Japanese flashlight animation team Tochka.

Translated by shitty Babel Fish:
1.Camera 3m? About 4.5m, it installs in the place where the form where you have drawn the picture can be photographed perfectly. * Please be sure to lock the camera securely with the tripod!

2.Shutter speed of the camera is set the valve, or the exposure time which is longer than the normality (5 seconds 8 seconds 10 seconds etc.).

3.The picture is drawn with the light/write, the circumstances are photographed.
With such feeling of the ↓, it will try drawing in the sky largely. For example, "0"

4.When it does, the locus which is drawn in such a wind is that way shown.
The ↓ it is something which by the way, this photographed in exposure time 5 seconds.

5.Drawing, you take many times, drawing, you take, it repeats. For example, while changing the size and position of 0, when it keeps drawing, as been moving, it can show.

6.If it continues plays back the photograph which it photographed, it is the completion of PiKAPiKA!

Lots of other goodies (videos) throughout the website. I'm hooked.

And we're off

These are rather cute - available at Steven Alan for $80 but they can't beat my $15 Chinatown Spring Court ripoffs.

We're off to Austin tomorrow. I am so excited to leave New York and take a vacation. It seems like it'll be a whirlwind event with all the driving we have to do and all the events happening.

My friend Wes made a spreadsheet of all the events he's going to, with a tab that lists all RSVP information as well as useful tidbits such as which one has good grab bags, addresses, etc.

Wild stylez.

C.H. Smooth

I wish everything could be still for just one day. I don't want to read anything, hear anything, see anything, say anything. I need an isolation tank in my apartment.

Or I could just go to Blue Light Floatation, where an hour of nothing but me, myself & I costs a mere $70. A small price to pay for some goddamned peace and quiet.

And if I turn into a Neanderthal, I'm sure I'd still be more advanced than some of the numbskulls I ride the train with every day.

Brainsplosions!

Holy shit holy shit holy shit! I played this game when I visited my family in Vancouver a couple years ago. My brother's got a ton of game systems and put this game on because he thought I'd like it. Now there's an updated version available for XBox 360.

For those of you wondering what Rez is, it's a shooter game on acid. Trance music plays and as you shoot your targets, they add beats and noise to the music. It's really not as hateful as it sounds and it's fun to play. Plus the graphics look like Tron, and the soundtrack includes songs by Cold Cut and Ken Ishii. What's better than that?

"No I don't got no 'ludes!"

Three-headed dog terrorizes midtown

This weekend we went up to midtown to check out some photo exhibits at nearby galleries. We only made it into one, then decided to scrap that idea and headed to FAO Schwarz. I bought myself a pitcher plant starter kit, which really sounds like more work than it's worth. But they are beautiful plants so if anyone has any fresh rainwater in stock, hand it over.

Caught an early dinner at recently-opened Mia Dona, which was an excess in MEAT. More restaurants need to serve roasted garlic in the bread basket!

We leave for Austin in about a week. I am still without luggage (thanks for nothing Macy's) but I'll make do somehow. Looking forward to warm weather and BBQ. That's all I need right now. The best part about going on vacation is shopping for it. The worst part is the actual traveling.
